The Content Marketing Landscape in 2013 [Infographic]

Tools for managing the content marketing process

In 2013, content marketing is receiving more attention than ever and there are a growing number of tools to manage it.

We thought this infographic by Content Amp provides a nice visualisation of different types of tools to help manage how content is accessed, shared and analysed.

Although it's a little overwhelming, we think the top-level groupings of technologies are useful if you're reviewing the tools and process you use to manage your content marketing.

You’re right to call-out that effective CM is about much more than the
tools. That’s why we preach strategy and how you can measure through
analytics as you know. I think most tools are weak at reviewing
measurement and ROI and perhaps that will be addressed by 2015.

Great graphic – Would You Mind if I used it on a Post Card?

I like the presentation of this graphic and was excited to see the layout and thought – however – has consideration not been given to global content (multilingual content) and omni-channel distribution (BrightCove, Youtube) and content management (Adobe, SDL and Oracle). I am sure these were out of scope for this, consideration should be given to the conversation…IMHO

  • It’s going to take me awhile to wrap my head around that graphic. I’m just starting out at this marketing business. Thanks for the resource.

  • Indeed a nice one but we shouldn’t forget that content marketing is more than the social, search & content trio we herald in a digital context, where content marketing is mainly driven by search folks and social teams. See comments on http://www.contentmarketingexperience.com/2013/a-map-of-the-modern-content-marketing-software-and-partner-ecosystem. Wonder how Altimeter Group will categorize and categorizing ourselves. Welcoming all comments and suggestions on how to map this vast landscape of tools.

    • Hi J-P – I didn’t see you shared this earlier in April when it was first produced – we picked it up somewhere else.

That’s a great analysis you have there – so a good addition to the infographic.

There’s a lot that can be done in analytics to assess ROI IF you know how!
